AbbzGuizer Support

AbbzGuizer adds four movable guides to your Mac’s screen. Use them to align images, match crops and fine-tune layouts in any app.

Getting started

  1. Open AbbzGuizer.
  2. Click the red four-line icon in the menu bar.
  3. Enable Edit / Drag Guides, or press Control-Command-G.
  4. Drag the guides into position.
  5. Press Esc to finish editing and work in the app underneath.

Adjusting the guides

  • Color dots: Change the color of all four guides.
  • Precise Positions…: Enter exact positions in screen points, measured from the screen’s top or left edge.
  • Arrow keys: Move the selected guide by 1 point.
  • Shift + arrow keys: Move it by 10 points.
  • Tab / Shift-Tab: Select the next or previous guide.
  • Center Guides: Restore the default positions and show the guides.
  • Screen: Move the guides to another monitor.
  • Show Guides: Hide or show all four lines.

Your positions, color and selected screen are saved automatically.

Using AbbzGuizer with iMovie

AbbzGuizer is especially useful when working with Crop and Ken Burns.

To pause after a Ken Burns animation, mark its final frame with the guides. Then align the crop of a second copy of the image to those same guides. This helps create a seamless transition from movement to a still image.

AbbzGuizer provides a visual reference. It does not change or export your iMovie project.

Troubleshooting

I can’t click the app behind the guides.
Editing is still enabled. Press Esc or Control-Command-G to finish.

I can’t see the guides.
Enable Show Guides, check the selected Screen, or choose Center Guides. Try another color if the lines blend into your content.

The keyboard shortcut doesn’t work.
Make sure AbbzGuizer is running. You can also toggle Edit / Drag Guides from its menu bar icon.

Where is the main window?
AbbzGuizer runs in the menu bar. Click its red four-line icon to access the controls.
