AbbzThor helps you manage and translate App Store Connect metadata for your apps, subscriptions and in-app purchases. It also provides tools to create, edit, organize and upload screenshots and app previews.
Getting Started
- Open Settings → ASC Connect and add your App Store Connect API credentials.
- Use an API key with permission to access and edit the relevant app metadata.
- Select your app, platform and version.
- Choose an area: App, Subscriptions or In-App Purchases.
- Edit, translate or import your texts.
- Review your local drafts, then upload the changes.
Your App Store Connect credentials are stored locally in the macOS Keychain.
Translating Texts
Unlimited Languages unlocks editing and translation across all languages. Without it, text editing is limited to the app’s Primary Language.
AbbzThor supports Apple’s on-device translation on compatible macOS versions. You may be asked to download the required language packages. Availability depends on the language pair.
Optional AI translation requires AI Connect, Unlimited Languages and your own supported provider API key. OpenAI is currently supported.
Add your OpenAI API key in Settings → AI API Credentials. Use the test button to check the connection.
For a restricted OpenAI API key, enable Write access for Responses. Your OpenAI API account must also have available credit or billing capacity.
API usage is charged separately by OpenAI. A ChatGPT subscription does not include API usage.
Choose your translation provider in Settings → Translations. With AI Connect unlocked, select an app and open AI Translation Tone… in the main window to choose a formal or casual style and add translation instructions.
Character Limits and Drafts
AbbzThor supplies field-specific character limits to OpenAI and checks the returned texts.
If a translation exceeds a limit, AbbzThor makes up to two additional attempts to shorten the affected fields. Texts that remain too long are saved in full as local drafts and marked with a warning. Uploading stays blocked until the text meets the limit.
Review translations before uploading, especially product names, technical terminology and marketing claims.
An orange pencil indicator identifies a local draft. An outlined green checkmark means text is present locally but has not yet been uploaded. A filled green checkmark means the text is saved in App Store Connect without local changes.
These indicators do not certify translation quality or App Review approval.
Uploading Changes
Use Upload Changes to upload the selected languages for the current app version, subscription, subscription group or in-app purchase.
Use Command-click or Shift-click in the language table to select multiple languages. Clicking a field symbol opens that language and field in the editor.
Use Upload All to process saved drafts for the selected app across the latest version of each platform, shared App Information, subscriptions, subscription groups and in-app purchases. This includes drafts outside the currently displayed area or language filter. Older app versions are excluded.
Invalid texts, locked metadata and failed uploads are reported. Unsuccessful drafts remain available for correction and another attempt.
Uploads update metadata in App Store Connect. They do not submit your app for App Review.
If an upload is cancelled, changes already uploaded remain in App Store Connect.
Upload Credits and Subscriptions
AbbzThor includes 10 free start credits. Purchased credits do not expire.
One credit unlocks an upload group until midnight on this Mac:
- App texts: one credit per app, platform and language.
- Assets: one credit per app, platform and language. iPhone and iPad share the iOS asset pass; macOS assets have a separate pass. Screenshots, app previews and order changes share the same asset pass.
- Subscriptions: one credit covers all subscriptions and subscription group texts for the app in all languages.
- In-App Purchases: one separate credit covers all Consumables and Non-Consumables for the app in all languages.
Further uploads within an unlocked group cost no additional credit that day. Newly added languages are included in an existing Subscriptions or In-App Purchases day pass.
Credits are charged when an upload starts, even if it fails. The group remains unlocked until midnight, allowing another attempt without an additional credit for that group.
Credit balances and day passes are stored locally on this Mac. Do not rely on Restore Purchases to recover consumed credit purchases.
An active monthly or yearly upload subscription provides unlimited uploads without spending credits. Feature purchases remain separate.
Open Daily Credit Summary to check today’s unlocked groups.
Screenshots and App Previews
Use Asset Manager to edit screenshots, organize assets and compare local files with App Store Connect.
Screenshot Creator is an optional purchase that unlocks Create Screenshots. The Localization Bundle includes Screenshot Creator and Unlimited Languages.
Edit Screenshots provides cropping, scaling and text overlays. Order Assets lets you rearrange screenshots and app previews. Applying an order to other languages requires Unlimited Languages.
Before uploading, use Compare & Upload… to review the proposed changes. The selected language, device and display-group filters determine the upload scope; selected file rows do not restrict it.
When an image requires text review, inspect the result and use Mark Text Reviewed. This action also works for multiple selected images.
Activity Logs
Open Logs to review translation and upload results.
Upload All creates a summary showing the number of uploaded language drafts and any issues. Individual uploads are also logged.
Logs are stored locally and are not automatically sent to support.
CSV Import
CSV Import is available through a separate optional purchase.
Use the templates provided by AbbzThor, preserve the column structure and save files as UTF-8 CSV.
App CSV export and import apply to the selected platform and version. Process iOS and macOS separately. Product CSV files use the exact Product ID and language to identify entries.
In-App Purchases CSV import currently supports Non-Consumable products only.
Imported texts become local drafts. Review them before uploading. Empty CSV fields leave existing values unchanged.
Unlimited Languages is required to work with languages beyond the Primary Language.
Purchases and Restore
Optional features are purchased through Apple:
- Unlimited Languages: manage and translate additional languages.
- AI Connect: use the supported external AI translation integration with your own API key.
- CSV Import: import text files and download CSV templates.
- Screenshot Creator: create localized screenshots.
- Localization Bundle: unlock Unlimited Languages and Screenshot Creator together.
Feature purchases do not include upload credits, an upload subscription or external API usage.
If a previously purchased feature is unavailable, use Restore Purchases in Settings → Extras and make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.
Common Problems
OpenAI quota exhausted or rate limit reached
Check your OpenAI API billing, remaining credit and usage limits. For a temporary rate limit, wait briefly and retry.
API key rejected or access denied
Check that the saved key is complete, belongs to the intended project and has the required permissions. For OpenAI, verify Responses Write access.
App Store Connect upload fails
Check your API credentials, account permissions and the app or product’s current status in App Store Connect. Some fields cannot be changed in every status.
Open Logs for details. Correct the reported issue and retry the remaining drafts.
Apple Translation is unavailable
Apple Translation requires macOS 15 or later. Check that the required language packages are installed and that Apple supports the selected language pair.
Changes are not visible in App Store Connect
Check the upload result in Logs, refresh App Store Connect and confirm that you are viewing the correct app, platform, version, product and language.
Before refreshing, preserve any unsaved browser edits. Saving an outdated App Store Connect page can overwrite changes uploaded by AbbzThor.
